Proactive Measures for Families
Take these steps now to ensure your family is prepared:
- Update School Emergency Contacts: Ensure multiple trusted adults are listed to pick up your child.
- Complete a Family Preparedness Plan. Keep contact sheets and key documents accessible.
- Save Important Numbers:
- Your child’s school office and afterschool provider.
- Key support organizations.
- Know Your Rights: All people, regardless of immigration status, have rights under the U.S. Constitution.
- Visit Immigration Legal Resource Center for resources.
- Red Cards are available to print.

The Mexican Consulate provides essential support and resources for Mexican nationals in the United States. Whether you need assistance in an emergency, legal guidance, or help locating a detained family member, the Consulate is ready to assist.

ICE Detainee Locator
The ICE Detainee Locator can help people determine if their family member has been detained and where the family member is being held. In using the ICE detainee locator, it is helpful to know the family member’s date of birth and ‘A-Number’ (Alien Registration Number), if there is one. [Please Note: the ICE detainee locator is intended only for locating individuals who are already detained. If students, parents, or guardians have general questions about their immigration status, local educational agency personnel shall never refer them to ICE or other immigration enforcement.
