School Displacement
VUSD is committed to building classes and assigning staff based on the students who are registered to attend each year.  There are occasions, particularly after the start of the school year, where there may not be enough room to accommodate additional students at the time of enrollment and the student will need to be displaced to another school that can accommodate them.  Students who are displaced to another school do have the option to return to their resident school as space becomes available.  If your child has been displaced to another school, please stay in contact with your resident school to let them know that you are interested in being notified when an appropriate space is open.
Custody Agreements and Restraining Orders

The Vista Unified Board of Trustees recognizes the right of parents/guardians to be involved in the education of their children and desires to balance that right with the district's need to ensure the safety of students while at school  We believe that all children should have the opportunity to receive educational services and we encourage parents/legal guardians to enroll all school-aged children in school.

Our school  procedures are  consistent with applicable laws and regulations regarding enrollment and residency requirements.  The Superintendent or designee shall ensure that district staff understand the rights of parents/guardians afforded by law and Board policy and follow acceptable practices that respect those rights.

Please see our Custody and Enrollment Brochure for more information about parent rights and responsibilities.

Parents/guardians are required to ensure that current copies of any custody agreements or restraining orders are provided to the school at the time of enrollment and as soon as they are added or changed.  Our staff can only enforce legal directives if these documents are on file at the school.

Only one parent/guardian is required to complete enrollment/registration processes but all legal guardians can have access to Aeries Parent Portal.  It is not acceptable for one parent/guardian to delete or change the contact information provided by another parent/guardian, but both parents/guardians can request a separate login to be able to view all information as long as it is permitted in legal documentation.  Please ask for assistance to set up separate portal accounts at your school office if needed.
