All confirmed COVID-19 incidents related to Vista Unified school sites and offices will be reported on this Dashboard starting on September 18, 2020. Vista Unified is not including community-related cases for those individuals who have not come onto campus within close contact* of other students and staff. Vista Unified is including all positive confirmed cases for individuals who have been on campus within close contact* of others in Vista Unified school supervised instruction or activities. Once the District learns of an individual who has tested positive at a school site or office, these steps will be followed:

  • Consult with Local Health Officers
  • Clean and treat any affected areas
  • Contact trace within Vista Unified to determine close contacts*
  • Immediately notify anyone within Vista Unified determined to have had close contact* and advise of any required self-quarantine
  • Notify anyone who may have been in proximity, such as in the classroom, school, or office
  • Isolate individuals if present and advise of any required self-quarantine
  • Follow any additional recommendations from the San Diego County Public Department of Public Health

*Close Contact is defined as any individual who was within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days prior to positive specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated.

You can view a more detailed COVID-19 Decision Guide for symptoms and exposures here.

Below is a list of all confirmed COVID-19 incidents related to Vista Unified schools and offices. The Dashboard will be updated once a week, based on notification of confirmed cases.

The case data below represent confirmed COVID-19 cases in students from September 18th through October 19th.  This dashboard will be refined and updated on a weekly basis once Vista Classic instruction begins on October 20th.

*Important Note: Vista Unified does not wait to notify close contacts upon initial report of a positive case. However, Vista Unified will wait for official confirmation from the public health department before listing the case on this dashboard. This could result in a delay of cases appearing on this dashboard or a discrepancy between the number of notifications received and actual number of confirmed cases (when the case is not confirmed positive by public health).
