Dual language immersion programs provide all students the opportunity to learn academic content in their native language while also providing academic instruction in a target language. The main goals for all dual language programs are for students to achieve strong levels of academic proficiency in all subject areas, become bilingual and biliterate in English and the target language, and to value cultural diversity.

Research has found that dual language students outperform their peers in English-only programs. Students in dual immersion programs have high levels of self-esteem, high academic competence and motivation. Students leave the program better prepared for the global job market where a second language gives them a competitive edge.

50/50 MODEL
TWO-WAY
Students enrolled in this program model will spend 50% of their day learning in English and 50% of their day learning in Spanish. Classes are also carefully created to ensure that there are native English and Native Spanish speakers in each classroom so students have the opportunity to learn from each other as well as from the teacher.

The Dual Language Program is a pathway for students to work toward earning the California Seal of Biliteracy upon high school graduation. Students enrolled in the Dual Language pathway will have the opportunity to learn in both English and Spanish through elementary, middle and high school. Students are also recognized for their effort towards the goals of bilingualism and biliteracy along the pathway. |

90/10 MODEL
ONE WAY
Students enrolled in this program model will spend their kindergarten and 1st grade year learning 90% of the day in Spanish and 10% of the day in English. As students progress through the grade levels, the amount of time students spend learning in English increases until students reach 50/50 during their 5th grade year.

Students in the Dual Language Immersion program are instructed using Common Core standards in English as well as Spanish. See below for the California Spanish standards.

To enroll your child in one of our Dual Immersion programs, you will need to register at your child’s school of residency. You must also complete an interest form. Form can be found below or completed in person at the English Learner Center or your child's school of residency.
