Sue Martin

Sue Martin attended public schools in Escondido and Palomar College in San Marcos.  After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in history from Northern Arizona University, she returned to California for her teaching credential and Master's degree in Education.

Sue has been a Vista resident since 1995 and began teaching in Vista Unified in 1998.  She taught Social Studies at Rancho Buena Vista High School for 24 years prior to retiring in 2022.  Sue was named Teacher of Year at RBV in 2015.  As a teacher, she was dedicated to educating and inspiring students to stretch beyond their own self perceived limitations, find their passion in a career of their choice and always have a backup plan.

As a Board Trustee, Sue is focused on providing our student with a strong academic education to prepare them for real-world experiences beyond graduation, open communication and collaboration with our site staff who work and interact with our students everyday and facilitating complete transparency from the School Board and District to the VUSD community of students, parents, employees and residents.

She represents Trustee Area 5.
