Cipriano Vargas
Cipriano Vargas was elected in 2016. He is a proud graduate of Vista Unified Schools, having attended Breeze Hill Elementary, Washington Middle School and Vista High School. At Vista High School, Vargas was an active member of the Future Farmers of America, Character Leaders, and Migrant Education. He would go on to become the first in his family to pursue a college degree at California State University San Marcos.
At Cal State San Marcos, Vargas served on student government and was later appointed by Governor Brown to the CSU Board of Trustees. It was there that he became a fierce champion of higher education and ultimately a factor that led him into the classroom. He would go on to teach Kindergarten in the urban core of San Antonio, Texas.
He lives in the Townsite neighborhood and represents Trustee Area 4 which includes the central part of Vista. Vargas is a Vista native and has two siblings who attend schools in the Vista Unified School District.
His priorities as a trustee are to continue to expand early childhood education, promote dual-language framework and prepare students as global citizens of our society.
