Debbie Morton

Debbie is a lifelong educator and advocate for students. After 24 years of service to the students of VUSD, she retired in 2017. Her unique experience as an educator gives her an understanding of District operations and budgeting that centers on student learning.

She and her husband are proud parents and grandparents. Their four daughters and multiple grandchildren, have attended, or are attending, VUSD schools. As a former District teacher, as well as a current parent and grandparent of District students, she knows first-hand what is going on in the classroom and on campuses.

Debbie’s priorities include prioritizing the social/emotional well-being of students, improving curriculum, repairing VUSD schools, District transparency, and inclusion of parents as partners in their child’s education.

Trustee Morton was elected in 2018 and represents District 2, which includes eastern portions of Vista and a small portion of San Marcos.
