Vista Academy of Visual and Performing Arts

Vista Academy of Visual and Performing Arts was created in 1991 at the campus that was formerly known as Santa Fe Elementary School. The mission of educators there is to educate students in an environment that encourages creativity, self awareness and self expression through an appreciation of the visual and performing arts. Educators there teach a curriculum that focuses on literacy through the arts.

“Our goal is to increase student learning by providing a strong, standards-based academic program which emphasizes the arts and instructional strategies in every classroom,” Principal Catina Hancock said.

The school has served about 1,000 students in grades kindergarten through eight. However, beginning in fall 2013, it will only go up to fifth grade and will have fewer students.
