Pairing Picture Books and Apps for Intervention (Live webinar transmitted from ASHA - group session hosted at NCCSE)

Picture books and interactive apps can be invaluable tools for planning intervention activities that are engaging and relevant to classroom content. Picture books have a long history of support as a treatment tool; clinicians can select fun, humorous picture books that include relevant classroom or social contexts, discourse structures, critical sentence structures, and vocabulary to engage students across grade levels.

From iPad to iPlay: Apps for Engaging Children and Adolescents(Live webinar transmitted from ASHA - group session hosted at NCCSE)

This course will introduce SLPs to the concept of gamification-adding gamelike elements to encourage participation-using popular tablet gaming apps, with the goal of improving children's active participation in therapeutic activities for problem solving, speech and language, interactive play, pragmatics, executive function, and behavior modification. The apps and gamification activities we will discuss are targeted to preschoolers through middle-school-age children.

Self & Match Advanced Training

This session will bring together educators currently implementing 'Self & Match Systems' and will help identify ways to optimize the current interventions. The 3 hour session will include a round table discussion, consultation, and review of current 'Self & Match' systems to identify ways to optimize the current functioning. This time could also be used to assist with creating individualized forms and/or to work with the staff on making data-based decisions and/or how to graph the data.
Limited to educators who have previously attended the "Intro to 'Self & Match'" training and are utilizing the 'Self & Match' system.
Self-Injury: Understanding & Helping Students Who Cut or Burn Themselves

Increasing numbers of students are cutting, scratching, hitting or burning themselves to feel better.
Self-Injury is often confused with suicide-though these behaviors are very different. Despite wanting to do the right thing, school professionals (and family members) can inadvertently worsen self-injurious behavior if never shown effective ways to support these young these people.Join us for a three-hour practical presentation with photos, video clips and real-life case examples.
