Loving and Learning with Our Child with Disabilities:  A Life-Long Dance - Janice Fialka

Saturday, October 1, 2016 - 9 am - 12 noon

In this workshop we will have a lively conversation about the impact of raising and supporting a child with delays or disabilities.  We will explore the impact of this experience including the range of feelings, thoughts, worries, joys and changing roles.  We'll identify 'dance steps' - strategies and values - that can be used in living a joyful life.

This workshop teaches parents and caregivers the art of being fully present with a child with kindness, consideration and compassion.

Introduction to Self and Match at Home

Saturday, October 8, 2016 - 9 am - 12 noon

The Self & Match system has been used to support individuals with emotional and behavior challenges, autism, learning disabilities, and a variety of other challenges.  This interactive and hands-on workshop will provde an excellent opportunity to learn a well-defined, systematic self-monitoring intervention andmotivational system.  Participants will leave with a comprehensive tool in hand to implement immediately.

From School to Work:  Transitioning from District Work Experience Services to Adult Employment Services

Monday, October 17, 2016 - 4 - 6 pm

The first hour will feature speakers from the Department of Rehabilitation, San Diego Regional Center, and a panel of young adults who will share their experiences in the workplace.  The second hour will be an opportunity for families and students to meet representatives from agencies that provide supported employment services in north San Diego County.

S'Cool Moves and Zones of Regulation:  A perfect combination

Saturday, October 22, 2016 - 9 am - 12 pm

The Zones of Regulation, created by Leah Kuypers, OTR/L is an evidence-based, systematic, cognitive behavior approach to teach self-regulation by categorizing the different ways we feel and states of alertness we experience into four concrete zones. S'cool Moves teaches students neurosensory activities for academic success. It is a natural match for Zones, providing multiple tools for self-regulation. Participants will learn activities and language to assist their child in self-regulation. This workshop is hands-on, upbeat, and fun! Please wear comfortable clothes and be prepared to move! You and your children will be glad you attended!

Bonsall Unified, Cardiff, Carlsbad Unified, Del Mar Union, Encinitas Union,  

Fallbrook Union Elementary, Fallbrook Union High, Oceanside Unified,  

Rancho Santa Fe, San Dieguito Union High, San Marcos Unified, Solana Beach, Vallecitos, and Vista Unified, as well as families whose children receive services through California Early Start.

 

Unless otherwise noted, all programs are presented in English with simultaneous interpretation in Spanish.

De la escuela al trabajo: transición de servicios de experiencia de trabajo en el distrito a servicios de empleo para adultos

Lunes, 17 de octubre, 2016 - 4 - 6 pm

La primera hora contará con oradores del Departamento de Rehabilitación, El Centro Regional de San Diego y un panel de clientes representando a ambas agencias. Los oradores describirán servicios de apoyo para el empleo que conducen a un empleo integrado competitivo y los criterios de elegibilidad para recibir estos servicios. Clientes actuales compartirán su experiencia en los lugares de trabajo.

La segunda hora contará con una sesión de trabajo donde las familias y los estudiantes podrán conocer representantes de cada agencia que provee servicios de apoyo para el empleo en el norte del condado de San Diego.
