Lake Elementary School

Lake Elementary School opened in 1989 in southeastern Oceanside. Educators there are committed to providing each student a challenging, standards-based curriculum focused on high expectations. Children at the school have consistently scored highly on state standardized tests, surpassing statewide goals.

An top priority continues to be the use of technology by students and staff to prepare children for 21st Century College and Career readiness, Principal Diane Lambert said. Schoolwide goals are achieved through open and continuous communication among parents, students and employees. Active parents are vital to the educational program, serving on the School-Site Council, Parent-Teacher Association and English Language Advisory Committee as well as participating in classroom activities. The active PTA there has helped build and grow the Garden Learning Center, sponsor assemblies and academic activities, obtain playground equipment, and raise funds for technology.

Lake has about 850 students and 32 teachers. All children participate in English language arts, math, social studies, science and physical education classes as well as visual and performing arts. The safe and orderly school environment provides the structure for students to flourish, Lambert said.
