Grapevine Elementary School

Grapevine 1962.JPG

Grapevine Elementary School opened in 1962 in a quiet residential neighborhood in northwestern Vista. The school’s current vision under the leadership of Principal Rafael Olavide is:

  • The staff of Grapevine School believes that all students can become life-long learners, thinking critically and objectively, solving problems, and analyzing and interpreting new information.
  •  The staff and the community are dedicated to ensure a safe and caring environment with a focus on cooperation and positive self-esteem.
  • These goals will enable all students to become responsible and contributing members of society.

Grapevine parents are actively involved through the Parent-Teacher Association), School Site Council and English Learner Advisory Committee, as well as volunteering in the classrooms. The PTA organizes educational assemblies, movie nights and family dances.

“Grapevine Elementary continues to offer a great education thanks to a staff of professionals and a community committed every day to our students’ success,” Olavide said.

The school has 660 students in kindergarten through fifth grade with 29 teachers. Grapevine students have access to the latest technology with Starboards and iPads in the classrooms in addition to two computer labs and netbooks available for all students to use. Students and teachers have made a commitment to a program that encourages positive behavior known as ROARS, which focuses on respect, responsibility, safe, caring and self-disciplined scholars.
