VUSD Is a Common Sense Education Digital Citizenship Certified District for 2015-16!

Last summer, we launched an ambitious plan in Vista Unified to become a Common Sense Media Certified district by the end of 2015-2016 school year. Almost 1000 of our teachers and administrators received information and professional development on digital citizenship at our district-wide training in August 2015. School sites in our district implemented digital citizenship plans where students received comprehensive education in many components of digital citizenship and online safety using lessons provided by Common Sense Media. Schools also held assemblies and meetings with experts in the field to better educate students, teachers, and parents. Months of hard work and effort at our school sites to educate the students of Vista Unified in all areas of  Digital Citizenship have come to fruition. Common Sense Media's educational team has officially certified Vista Unified as a Certified District for 2015-16. This is the beginning of what we hope will be a sustained effort in our district to educate our students about the importance of Digital Citizenship.
