The Special Education Department Resource Teacher Inclusion/Transition Specialist will be utilized to help support school sites with implementing best practices around inclusion/transition for students with disabilities. This support will include direct instruction with students and staff, as well as helping to support our District Behavior Support Team (DBST) in implementing inclusion and behavior strategies to help students to be successful in the general education setting. Background knowledge should include training in specialized academic instruction, universal design for learning, differentiation and current behavior strategies. An Education Specialist credential is required and a BCBA is preferred.

This is a resource teacher position designed to support the implementation and articulation of the VUSD Master Plan for English Learners in grades TK-12 through direct student services, professional development, and compliance monitoring in alignment with VUSD Board Goals and
Policies. The positions are grade span specific including Elem (TK-5), MS (6-8), and HS (9-12).
Under the Resource Teacher Job Description, the responsibilities of this position will include:
Direct Student Services
-
Provide and monitor ongoing, consistent instructional support in English Language Development (ELD) to all English Learners, consistent with the California Common Core State Standards and ELD standards, as well as the VUSD EL Master Plan, with specific emphasis of differentiating for targeted EL groups.

Provide and monitor appropriate academic and social/emotional interventions for EL students.
-
Support and facilitate extended learning opportunities for English learners.
Professional development
-
Work as a member of a district-wide collaborative team of TK-12 ELD Resource Teachers to provide additional professional development on the English Language Development Standards, VUSD EL Master Plan and the California EL Road Map on specific and effective language acquisition strategies to school sites.

Participate in and/or lead Professional Development opportunities at the site to collaborate and support implementation of effective EL practices in the classroom, with special attention to integrated ELD and designated ELD.
-
Coach and/or team-teach with colleagues in order to support language acquisition, integrated ELD, designated ELD, academic vocabulary development, literacy, access to rigorous content, and academic and linguistic readiness in every subject area for all English learners.
Compliance Monitoring

Assist district and site administration in monitoring all federal and state procedures and regulations pertaining to English learners.

Ensure site compliance with EL Master Plan , VUSD policy, ELD goals and procedures.

Training and monitoring analysis of English Language Proficiency Assessment for California (ELPAC), ELD Assessments, Language Appraisal Team (LAT), progress monitoring, reclassification, Program Options, English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) to community, teachers and parent outreach.

The RT will also coordinate work with the CSI Compliance Coordinator and the Principal of Murray/Alta Vista High School, assist in the development of a needs assessment plan, and support the CSI Compliance Coordinator to gather quantitative and qualitative data to share with the CSI team/taskforce.
The RT will lead systematic team meetings to analyze data and collaboratively determine additional data to collect, facilitate the development of an intervention model to address school needs and work with the CSI Compliance Coordinator to develop a data collection process to monitor the implementation of interventions. The principal may request additional tasks or duties based on need or compliance.
